Here I am in Nipigon, having missed the opportunity to post during our rest day in Thunder Bay. But good weather is upon us, and it's time to try and catch up on what's been happening...
Well that was the plan, but the campsite WiFi went down and it has taken until now - August 1 in Wawa - to gain access again. As a result, the memories are even more hazy and the writeups will correspondingly be brief. So let me just try and finish up this post that I started, and (with luck) I'll resume catching up tomorrow. Fortunately we are holed up here (in a motel !) for another rest day.
Day 28 - Rest Day in Kenora
I just wanted to show you a bit of what life is like on a rest day. First off, much laundry gets done. But we are still in the habit of rising early, so sometimes the facilities are not yet open and a queue forms. In this case there were only two machines so I had to wait even longer.
We tend to spread out as people liberate gear from their cubby-holes; washing clothes also seems to make them expand and take up more room.
There's time to go into town and see things (besides restaurants). In my case I made a particular point of seeking out Husky the Muskie because I had managed to miss him in 1994. I felt better making amends, since I learned he's not really that visible from the road unless you're looking for him - so this is now one large fish that didn't get away. Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said for dinner, since the fish and chips place I had heard about had just shut down for the evening when David and I showed up (so we went elsewhere and I drowned my sorrows with a beer).
Just because you're in town doesn't mean you don't still get to see wildlife.
