A Coast to Coast Bicycle Ride

Follow my adventures as I pedal from Vancouver to St. John's with the Tour du Canada. The title is a quote from an interview I gave with the Columbiana County [Ohio] Morning Journal in the midst of a cross-USA trip. Their reporter suggested I was "understating the case somewhat".

And So It Starts (Some Assembly Required)

My good friend Linda drove me to the airport this morning; seven hours later (more or less), I emerged in Vancouver airport. The trip was rather uneventful (not even an RSI - Requisite Screaming Infant - on board),  although it was disappointing that the satellite TV feed for the World Cup wasn't working. But the day was sunny and I had time to kill, so I decided to assemble my bike in the airport and pedal to UBC (about 18km, as it turned out) rather than deal with bus transfers or the expense of a taxi.
From this pile of junk emerged...The Baz! Note the huge pack - don't try riding like this unless you are a trained professional (or somewhat crazy).

  1. That's a pretty fancy bike for someone who claims to have no money! Now I know why! Do you call it "Sir Velo"?
